One dimensional arguments...

Regarding recent changes about taxes, social security, and higher costs for employers regarding health care -- just because something rises costs does not mean its wrong. 

People made the same arguments when slavery was abolished (i.e., the government is destroying the economy), and to lesser extent in the 80's when immigration reforms happened (i.e., the economy would be hurt because companies would have to pay fair wages).

Am I comparing the current stuff to those two situations? Not necessarily. I just want to see some more creative reasoning.
